“Horses were my first love artistically, and they remain a favored subject. Several years ago, while visiting friends and a commission client in southwestern England, we had the good fortune to see off the local hunt. The ground crew were proffering sausage rolls and whiskey on a brilliant November morning (and plied me with the same); the hounds were, of course, quite interested. The whole pre-hunt scene, including the hunt master’s pink coat, was just irresistible to an artist who loves horses and color.”
